Security System MonitoringWhen you install a home security system, one of the key issues you ought to consider is a monitored system versus a non-monitored system. The question is about response. Very basically, it is about whom you want to respond and when you want a response. Monitoring guarantees that action will be always taken in the event of an alarm going off.
A non-monitored security system is good in that it alerts the persons in the house about a certain hazard to life or property. When an alarm sounds because of a fire or an intruder, only those people who are within audible range will actually hear the alarm. Unless you are actually present or you have the system call you on a specific phone line, you will never know about the emergency and you will not be able to respond in a timely manner. While having the system contact you via a phone line or the internet is not a bad idea, but is actually very good, problems arise when you are not near your phone or computer or do not have cellular service in a specific zone and the emergency occurs.
Because there may be times you cannot be alerted to an emergency in your home, a monitored security system is best since it will ensure that there is a response. When an alarm is activated, a monitored system will automatically call in to a central agency or the monitoring center. Upon receiving the call, the center will call your home phone to verify the authenticity of the crisis. If anyone answers the phone, they will be asked to give a code. If the code given is wrong or no one answers, the center will immediately dispatch the proper emergency response team.
Besides being extremely dependable, monitoring can be very affordable. Many security companies offer monitoring through their individual companies for a monthly fee of approximately $30. However, there are other and more economical monitoring choices. Smaller security vendors often carry monitoring alternatives through central agencies for as low as $9. There is no difference between company monitoring and central monitoring besides the price.
A monitored system reduces the chances of false alarms and increases the chance of quick response. Because the monitoring service is always there and your security system is powered by AC and a battery backup, a monitored security system makes certain that, upon an emergency, there will be emergency units in route to your home whether you know about the emergency or not.
